It’s Time for a Montage: A 2024 Film Montage

“Supercuts” are always fun and supercuts of a past year’s films are a fine tradition to uphold.

For over a decade, I’m enjoyed the meticulously crafted montages by David Ehrlich, a film critic and, as quickly becomes apparent: wholly unrepentant cinemaniac. His tastes and judgment on films are as varied as they are unexpected, paired beautifully with a veritable mixtape of a soundtrack that grabs you as much as it startles you. Basically, one minute you’re looking at a montage of clips from an art house film not only with a capital ‘A,’ but the ‘A’ has some serious calligraphy. Next, you’re looking at “Jackass Forever.” The countdown keeps you on your toes. Were I ever able to see all the films released in a given year, I still don’t think I’d be simpatico with Ehrlich’s rankings in no way diminishes what is an annual treat.

Runs a 23 packed minutes, some of which are decidedly NSFW

If you find yourself wanting to check out other years, he has all of them available on one page going back to 2012.

As a note: assume all the videos are NSFW… not only are many of these films limited release that you may not have even heard of, many of them are what might be termed “a hard ‘R’ rating” and Ehrlich uses clips from every part of the cinematic buffalo, so to speak.

If you find yourself wanting more 2024 supercut, or even a different take, you can also check out Screen Junkies’ entry, which clocks in under 8 minutes (the horror section is going to be too much for younger ones, but it’s not as bloody as Ehrlich’s):

Don’t be surprised if you suddenly find yourself with a few more films on your “to see” list.
